What Dahlia is

Dahlia is operated by Dahlia Apps LLC. It provides educational information about immigration law and processes. It is not a law firm, it does not provide legal advice, and using it does not create an attorney and client relationship. It does not replace advice from a licensed immigration attorney about your specific situation.

What you can rely on it for

Dahlia describes what published rules say and points you to them. It does not tell you what will happen in your case, and no answer it gives should be treated as a prediction, a guarantee, or a recommendation to file or not file anything. Decisions about your immigration situation should be made with a licensed attorney.

Accuracy, and its limits

Answers are drawn from approved sources and carry the date the source took effect. Rules change, sources are updated, and an answer that was accurate when it was written may not be accurate later. Always check the effective date on the citation, and check the source itself where the stakes are real.

Your account

• You need an account to ask a question. One person, one account.
• Keep your sign in details to yourself. What is in your account is readable by anyone who can sign into it.
• You can delete your account and its contents at any time. Deletion is permanent after the 24 hour window described in the privacy policy.
• Do not use Dahlia to give immigration advice to other people as though it were your own. That may be unauthorized practice of law where you are.

Things you agree not to do

• Scrape, resell, or republish Dahlia's answers as your own product or service.
• Use Dahlia to build a competing dataset or to train another model.
• Attempt to gain access to another person's account or content.
• Use Dahlia in a way that would put another person at risk, including submitting someone else's immigration details without their knowledge.

Ending your account

You can end this agreement at any time by deleting your account in the app. Deletion works the way the privacy policy describes: your account becomes unreadable immediately, you have 24 hours to get it back by signing in, and after that it and everything in it are erased permanently. There is no other path, and no support ticket is required.

We can suspend or close an account that does the things listed under "Things you agree not to do", or when the law requires it. If we do, we will tell you why, unless the law forbids us from telling you. An account we close is deleted the same way and on the same 24 hour clock as one you delete yourself. It is not kept as a file on you.

The parts of these terms that describe what Dahlia is and is not, what we do not promise, the limits of our responsibility, and how disagreements are handled keep applying after your account ends, because they are about the time you used it.

What we do not promise

Dahlia is provided as it is and as it is available. We do not promise that it is complete, current, free of errors, or available at any given moment, or that an answer fits your situation. To the extent the law allows, we make no implied promises either, including the ones the law calls merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

The limits of our responsibility

To the extent the law allows, Dahlia Apps LLC is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses, or for the outcome of any immigration filing, decision, interview, or deadline. Our total responsibility to you for anything arising from Dahlia is limited to the larger of the amount you paid Dahlia Apps LLC in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars.

Some places do not allow these limits, or not all of them. Where you are protected by a law like that, these limits apply only as far as that law allows, and nothing here takes away a right that law gives you.

If we disagree

Write to us first at hello@meetdahlia.com and say what went wrong. We will try to sort it out with you directly, and we ask for thirty days to do so before either of us goes further.

If that does not resolve it, any dispute about Dahlia or these terms is brought in the state or federal courts located in the State of Florida, and you and we both agree to those courts. Each side pays its own costs unless a court decides otherwise. If you live somewhere whose consumer protection law gives you the right to bring a claim closer to home, this paragraph does not take that right away.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will say so and date it. We will not quietly rewrite a page like this one.
